Hate Marches On in Utah

Update (7:00 pm): Hope is not lost! (via Maxwell)

The Utah governor will sign a bill allowing bans of gay straight alliances.

Pam Spaulding has the whole story.

Shakespeare’s Sister is livid about the intolerance of tolerance.

I’m angry that we are still at a place where we even have to use the word “tolerance,” which implies that being openly gay is bad or wrong, but that society will suck it up and let people live…if we must. The word should be acceptance, or celebration even.

Yet here we are, with one state silencing speech that expresses any form of solidarity, tolerance, acceptance, whatever. It’s just plain gross.

Why does anyone care why anyone else is gay? Whose business is it?

A violation of freedom of speech AND freedom of assembly. This law can’t possibly last one nanosecond in the courts. I can think of least one candidate who will now bite the dust (hint: his initials are MR)

makes me wanna paint big glitter rainbows on a van and drive cross country to camp out on his lawn.

Glad the crisis seems averted, though I have to say Maxwell, I was sort of looking forward to seeing you roll down the street in a rainbow and glitter covered VW van. Little Miss Sunshine 2?
