Despite protests from religious leaders that the reform would lead to a society of “free sex,” Pakistan votes to amend its harsh rape laws.

Elizabeth Vargas returned to work as an anchor at ABC News. Sheila Gibbons at Women’s eNews writes that her return should dispel some of the recent hysteria about an opt-out revolution.

Nicaragua passes a law banning all abortions without exception to save the life of the pregnant woman. Reproductive rights organizations have vowed to challenge the dangerous and misogynistic piece of legislation.

Some good news: Mexico City legalizes same sex unions. So now, South Africa, Canda, Mexico, Spain, and several other countries recognize same sex unions. But still, the US resists.

France gets closer to its first female president. But no one can talk about her without mentioning her physical appearance (“good looks”) and use of her “feminine charms.”

Some more good news, via Feminist Law Professors, the Progressive Caucus will be the largest Democratic Congressional caucus when the new Congress is sworn in in January.

And finally, to start the week right, Shark-Fu at Angry Black Bitch gives us some Bitchfirmations. I’m hoping for some bitchfirmations in person when I meet Shark-Fu at National Advocates for Pregnant Women’s Summit to Ensure the Healthy and Humanity of Pregnant and Birthing Women which we will both be attending in January.

Have a great Sunday….
